New Doco Series Family Rules Looks at Life in an All-Female Indigenous Household
NITV’s upcoming observational documentary series, Family Rules, looks at the challenges faced by the Rule family – 10 Indigenous women tackling life together. Matriarch Daniella Rule was forced to raise her nine daughters on her own after her husband was killed in a coward punch attack – no easy feat.
Family Rules is an up close and personal observational documentary series giving an exclusive insight into modern Indigenous family life through the eyes of nine sisters and their mother. Angela, Shenika, Helen, Kelly, Kiara, Sharna, Aleisha, Jessica and Hannah navigate their way through adolescence and adulthood as their mother, Daniella, tries to teach them life lessons. With their own unique sense of humour and style, the girls learn to juggle their own aspirations with the reality of everyday life.
For six nights across two weeks in January, Australia is invited to look into the lives of nine sisters and their mum in a landmark new series on NITV.
In the Rule family, the girls range in age from 12 to 29. Each episode in this six part series focuses on the life of a particular sister, showing situations common to many young women.
