TV Tonight on Family Rules
Returning: Family Rules
NITV observational series Family Rules returns for its second season in November.
The series turns the cameras on Perth’s Rule family, headed up by matriarch Daniella Rule, as her mob navigates adolescence, young adult life and parenthood.
NITV’s Channel Manager, Tanya Orman said: “NITV has a proud heritage of informing, educating and entertaining Indigenous and non-indigenous audiences, reaching a rich diversity of cultures. The new series of Family Rules provides exclusive access to a contemporary Indigenous Australian family as it faces the familiar problems of adolescence, young adult life and parenthood. The Rule women are fabulous, fun and incredibly strong, and are great role models for the next generation.”
The first season of Family Rules introduced viewers to Daniella, a resilient super-mum raising her nine daughters alone after the sudden death of her husband. The up close and personal series, based in Western Australia, provided an exclusive look into a contemporary Aboriginal family tackling identity, culture and healing, all while facing life’s daily dilemmas.
When season two returns in November, the program will follow Daniella and the Rule sisters Hannah, Jessica, Aleisha, Sharna, Kelly and Kiara, with elder sisters Shenika and Angela always on hand to give advice on their sisters’ endless exploits.
Each six half-hour episode gives insight into a member of the family and their life choices, such as buying a home, choosing a career and becoming a parent. With their own unique humour and style, these women are trying to reach their goals while facing the realities of everyday life. While Daniella, threads the series together with her extraordinary journey to be the best mum possible for her family.
