IF Magazine features Family Rules
New NITV series teaches the rules of the indigenous modern family
NITV’s new observational documentary series, Family Rules, will air from January 9.
The Metamorflix-produced series follows the matriarch of the Rule family, Daniella, and her nine daughters, aged between 12 and 29. Daniella is raising them on her own after the tragic death of her husband following a one-hit “coward punch”.
The show aims to give insight into the modern Indigenous family, with each episode in the 6×30 series focusing on the life of a particular sister.
Family Rules is “about finding the perfect dress for the school formal and about moving out of home for the first time. It’s about a family road trip to experience culture, country and elders. However, navigating life in a family of nine presents its own unique challenges and when the rules are broken, everyone has something to say.”
Metamorflix developed Family Rules alongside Karla Hart Enterprises, with the financial assistance of Screenwest and Lotterywest.
Family Rules has been produced with the support of NITV, Screen Australia, Screenwest and Lotterywest and premieres January 9, 2017 on NITV.
